The facial branchiomotor neurons of the hindbrain undergo a characteristic migration from rhombomere 4 to rhombomere 6. Several genes have been implicated in this process, including components of the non-canonical Wnt PCP pathway. I am analyzing the function of one member of this pathway, Pk1b, and analyzing its interactions with other genes. I am also studying the cellular and cytoskeletal dynamics of the facial neurons during their migration, and the effects of Pk1b loss-of-function.
